My Writing Journey
Let me introduce myself. I am Eva Bielby. I was brought up in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and I still live in this quaint little market town. I love living here where my family also live, so what's not to love?
Since the day I learned to read, I have always had my nose buried in some book or other. Something else I have also dabbled in from being very young is poetry, but that has always been purely for my own entertainment. I always knew, even back in my younger days, that I would always write poetry. I also intended to write a novel one day. I never imagined for a second that my first book would turn out to be a trilogy!
On leaving school, I worked in accounts offices and after I married, I qualified in accountancy and worked as a Company Accountant for over thirty years. Since I started writing, I have loved every minute of the journey and although it was hard to have a full-time job and come home to start my own work, I wouldn't have swapped it for anything. Writing is my life now and nothing fills me with greater pride than having three books completed so far, and with many more to follow, I hope. I would also like to try writing in some different genres.
I finished and published my debut novel in February 2014, which has now been re-published in 2023 with a new title, 'The Hurt'. The second book was published in October 2015 and also re-published in 2023 with the new title, 'The Healing'. After a couple of traumatic years in my personal life, I was unable to complete the final instalment by the target I had set for myself, so the final part of the trilogy, 'The Scars', was published for the first time in 2023. Through recent years, I have developed a very strong interest in the paranormal; mediumship, tarot card readings and everything weird and wonderful!! I'm also a qualified Reflexologist and Reiki Master, and with that...there's plenty of material for a future book…or maybe even two! My hobbies (aside from reading and writing), include cryptic crosswords, sudoku and the occasional game of chess. Before I started writing, I enjoyed playing badminton once a week and the occasional game of tennis in the summer. Another thing I love to do is travel. Having visited most of the countries in Europe, I aim on seeing as much of the rest of the world as I can. I have been to the US, Canada, Barbados, Mexico, Cuba, Singapore, Bali, Vietnam, and of the African Countries, I have visited Tunisia and Egypt. I love my holidays, be it sun-worshipping, a bit of culture, snow, city breaks…whatever!! Even a late-night stroll on the beach is something I like to do from time to time. I have a son and a daughter, who both fled the nest some time ago. They have made me a very proud Nana to Jamie, Kyle, Kacey, Imogen, Isla and Brooke.
Personal Life & Inspirations
My inspiration as an author is simple and deeply personal.
Life’s real emotions, love, heartbreak, betrayal, trauma, and the hard-won path to healing, drive every word I write. Personal challenges, especially the painful losses and delays they caused, finally taught me that life is far too short to keep these stories inside. That realization turned my lifelong love of reading and poetry into published erotic suspense, dramatic romance, and raw poetry.
My work explores vulnerability, sensuality, resilience, and hope, shaped by my roots in Yorkshire, my holistic practices (Reiki, reflexology, mediumship), and the everyday beauty and mystery that surrounds me.
Writing is now my greatest joy and purpose.
