Elizabeth Green is the author of "The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth", "Detective Dopeyworth and the Mince Pie Mystery" and Detective Dopeyworth and the Seaside Swindler, The Owl Who Could Only Growl", "The Owl and the Bumblebee", “The Owl and the Christmas Tree".. and The Owl, the Bee and the Picnic.
Detective Dopeyworth is a project that is very close to her heart. She actually wrote the original version when she was just 14 years old. Her parents bought her a typewriter for Christmas and she sat for hours just typing away while the story unfolded in her imagination.
Elizabeth’s Dad absolutely loved it and sent it to everyone that he knew.
Nearly forty years passed by and, following her parent's death, she found it tucked away in her Dad's writing desk. She is now delighted to share this story of hope and perseverance with the world.
The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth tells the story of Jim, a hapless but loveable detective who dreams of becoming a hero. Poor old Jim doesn't seem to have much luck. Nothing seems to go his way, and it doesn't help that he is extremely clumsy and always getting into the most unlikely scrapes.
After yet another calamity, his sergeant gives him an ultimatum - solve a mystery, or else! Can Jim do it? Jim isn't so sure until he stumbles into his biggest mystery yet.
The Adventures of Detective Dopeyworth is a story about never giving up on your dreams, no matter what obstacles are put in your way. Perfect for 6-8 years and the first of a series of fun-filled adventures.
Detective Dopeyworth and the Mince Pie Mystery is book number two (released November 2023) and a wonderfully fun and festive tale, with Jim overcoming many obstacles to help save Christmas for his bakery buddies.
The Owl Who Could Only Growl is a beautifully illustrated picture book for 3 - 6-year-olds telling the story of Clarence the Owl who wakes up one morning feeling a bit grumpy. Elizabeth has always loved owls and she is fortunate to live on the North Yorkshire Moors where she see them on a regular basis.
The owl collection of books is growing and children love Clarence's adventures.
Elizabeth's latest owl book, The Owl, the Bee and the Picnic was co-written by the wonderful children from Bootham Junior School assisting her on this magical journey.
